In a bustling 48 hours filled with Trams, Wiener Wurstel and DevOps, Automation Consultants visited the Atlassian Open at the Messe Wien Exhibition Congress Center in Vienna, Austria.
The focus of Atlassian’s inaugural “Open” was on lessons learned and highlights from the Atlassian Summit earlier this year, although there was still plenty new to pick up and hear about from the Atlassian Community. Atlassian’s President Jay Simons was in attendance to present the features available from Jira and Confluence Cloud Premium, which guarantees 99.9% availability, unlimited storage and 24×7 dedicated support. He also announced the new data residency feature for Atlassian Cloud, which will enable users to dictate the region in which their data is held.
Scott Blacker, Head of Solutions Engineering at Atlassian, spoke about Jira Align, and provided a demonstration of the ever-expanding features of Atlassian’s newest and most exciting application. Using SAFe practices, Scott provided insight into how enterprise-level organisations can scale Agile using Atlassian tools such as Jira Software and Jira Align.
AC also had plenty of time during Day One to explore the Expo Hall and see various new Apps and integrations in use. It was at the Jira Align pod that AC received a first-hand demo of Jira Align and the new features discussed by Scott.
Day Two was the Partner Connect where AC gained insight into Atlassian’s Cloud-first strategy and how Atlassian is working to make Cloud and Trello accessible to even the largest organisations. However, that is not to say that self-hosted deployments are soon to be left by the wayside, as Atlassian also announced a wealth of additional features and support for Server and Data Center.
All together the event was a quick eye opener at one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. We learned lots about the future of the Atlassian core products, but the highlight was certainly the closer look we got at the new features for Jira Align.
Auf Wiedersehen Vienna, we’ll see you next year! 👋
