IT services and software company Automation Consultants (AC), today announced that it has completed a major data centre migration for RWE.
The project involved consolidating approximately 200 services – each comprising one or more applications into RWE’s new data centre in Neurath, Germany. The project enabled RWE to achieve savings in operational costs whilst maintaining service levels.
AC was selected to work with RWE on the project, due to it having successfully completed a number of prior data centre migrations, as well as having a strong relationship with RWE. AC’s role in the project was to carry out application discovery and migration testin to ensure the successful role out of the new data centre.
AC’s test approach focused on the many changes that took place between RWE’s service infrastructure as it stood, and the new datacentre. Each service underwent a discovery analysis and was subject to latency testing via a phased approach, to coincide with the migration schedule. The more technically complex the service, the greater the depth of testing that was applied. AC used its own OpsWave software to complete discovery and latency analysis on the project.
“AC recognises the importance of this project to RWE’s core infrastructure provisioning strategy,” says Jeffrey Cunliffe, CEO at AC. “This large scale migration project perfectly fitted AC’s core data centre skill set”.
