Atlassian has just released a 30 days advanced notice regarding increases to their pricing for Cloud, Data Center & Server instances across all Atlassian applications including Jira Software, Confluence, Bitbucket & Bamboo. With these price increases heavily weighted to encourage users to migrate to Cloud and Data Center, this may be a prime opportunity for Automation Consultants to help you make the move away from Server. Atlassian partner quotes that were active on September 30th will be extended to 90 days of validity automatically. All percentages reflect the price increase amount, and not the new price relative to the old price. Customers with existing licenses will receive a moderate increase at their annual renewals to help ease into the new pricing.

Cloud: Access, Jira Software Premium, Confluence Premium, Atlassian-owned apps (Team Calendars for Confluence, Confluence Questions, and Portfolio for Jira), Jira Align, Trello, Opsgenie, and Statuspage
Cloud
Jira Software Standard:
- Monthly: Jira Software Standard pricing for Cloud has not experienced an increase in prices for instances with up to 350 users. Furthermore, for instances with 351 to 2900 users, Jira Software Standard is now in fact cheaper with a rate of $1.50 per user. There is however up to a 14% increase in price for instances with 2900 to 5000 users.
- Annual: Annual pricing has not been affected up to the first 100 users however beyond this, depending on your user tier, the price increase varies between 8-279%. For existing instances, the increase in price of renewal varies between 8-35%. The price increases are represented visually below:
Confluence Standard & Jira Core:
- Monthly: Confluence Standard & Jira Core pricing for Cloud has not experienced an increase in prices for instances with up to 400 users. However, it is worth noting that the user tiers at which prices take effect have changed. As opposed to having a user tier from 251-400 and 401-5000 users, Confluence Standard & Jira Core will now have a user tier from 251-5000 users. Any instances with 401-5000 users will now have a 100% increase in price per user.
- Annual: Annual pricing has not been affected up to the first 100 users however beyond this, depending on your user tier, the price increase varies between 5-145%. For existing instances, the increase in price of renewal varies between 5-35%. The price increases are represented visually below:
Jira Service Desk Standard:
- Monthly: Jira Service Desk Standard pricing for Cloud has not experienced an increase in prices for instances with up to 650 users. However, it is worth noting that the user tiers at which prices take effect have changed. As opposed to having a user tier from 251-650 and 651-5000 users, Jira Service Desk Standard will now have a user tier from 251-5000 users. Any instances with 651-5000 users will now have a 122% increase in price per user.
- Annual: Annual pricing has not been affected up to the first 100 users however beyond this, depending on your user tier, the price increase varies between 8-130%. For existing instances, the increase in price of renewal varies between 5-34%. The price increases are represented visually below:
Bitbucket:
Bitbucket does not have annual pricing.
Atlassian has now introduced user tiers into their pricing model for Bitbucket Standard & Premium. The user tiers are as follows: 0-100, 101-250 & 251-Unlimited users.
Depending on the user tier for your instance, the Bitbucket Standard price increase varies between 27.5-50% per user. As for Premium, price increase varies between 0-20%.
Server
Jira Software:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Jira Software above 10 users, you could be looking at a price increase anywhere from 40-339% compared to the previous license prices.
- License Renewal: If you’re looking to renew a Jira Software License, depending on your user tier, the prices have been adjusted from 40-339% increases in price. For existing instances, the increase in price of renewal varies between 12-15%.
- License Upgrade: Jira Software license upgrades have seen an increase in price from 55-348%. For existing instances, the increase in price of license upgrade is up to 15%. The price increases are represented visually below:
Confluence:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Confluence above 10 users, you could be looking at a price increase anywhere from 42-323% compared to the previous license prices.
- License Renewal: If you’re looking to renew a Confluence License, depending on your user tier, the prices have been adjusted from 42-331% increases in price. For existing instances, the increase in price of renewal is up to 15%.
- License Upgrade: Confluence license upgrades have seen an increase in price from 54-275%. For existing instances, the increase in price of license upgrade varies between 13-15%.
Portfolio for Jira, Confluence Questions & Confluence Calendars:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Portfolio for Jira, Confluence Questions or Confluence Calendars above 10 users, you could be looking at a price increase up to 15% compared to the previous license prices.
- License Renewal: If you’re looking to renew Portfolio for Jira, Confluence Questions or Confluence Calendars, depending on your user tier, the prices have been adjusted up to a 15% increase in price.
- License Upgrade: Portfolio for Jira, Confluence Questions or Confluence Calendars license upgrades have seen an increase in price up to 15%.
Jira Core:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Jira Core above 10 users, you could be looking at a price increase anywhere from 37.5-340% compared to the previous license prices.
- License Renewal: If you’re looking to renew a Jira Core License, depending on your user tier, the prices have been adjusted from 37.5-340% increases in price. For existing instances, the increase in price of renewal is up to 12.5-15%.
- License Upgrade: Jira Core license upgrades have seen an increase in price from 54-348%. For existing instances, the increase in price of license upgrade varies up to 18%.
Jira Service Desk:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Jira Service Desk above 3 users, you could be looking at a price increase anywhere from 14-15% compared to the previous license prices.
- License Renewal: If you’re looking to renew a Jira Service Desk License, the prices have been adjusted to a 14% increase in price.
- License Upgrade: Jira Service Desk license upgrades have seen an increase in price up to 66%.
Bitbucket:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Bitbucket above 10 users, you could be looking at a price increase up to 16% compared to the previous license prices.
- License Renewal: If you’re looking to renew a Bitbucket License, depending on your user tier, the prices have been increased up to 16% in price.
- License Upgrade: Bitbucket license upgrades have seen an increase in price up to 15%.
Bamboo:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Bamboo for 1 or more remote agents, you could be looking at a price increase up to 15% compared to the previous license prices.
- License Renewal: If you’re looking to renew a Bamboo License, depending on the number of remote agents, the prices have been increased up to 15% in price.
- License Upgrade: Bamboo license upgrades have seen an increase in price up to 15%.
Crowd:
Crowd Server has had a change in its user tier available for license purchases. As opposed to being able to purchase 50 users for $10, you can only purchase 10 users for $10. The rest of the user tiers have remained the same.
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Crowd for more than 10 users, you could be looking at a price increase up to 15% compared to the previous license prices.
- License Renewal: If you’re looking to renew a Crowd License for 10 or more users, depending on the number of users required, the prices have been increased up to 15% in price.
- License Upgrade: Crowd license upgrades have seen an increase in price up to 15%.
Data Center
Jira Software:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Jira Software, you could be looking at a price increase anywhere up to 70% compared to the previous license prices, with lower user tiers having been affected more heavily.
- License Renewal: If you’re looking to renew a Jira Software License, depending on your user tier, the prices will increase by up to 25%, with lower tiers being affected more heavily.
Confluence:
- New License: For less than 2000 users, prices will increase by 25%. For more than 2000, prices will increase by 10%.
Jira Service Desk:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Jira Service Desk, prices will increase by 10% for all tiers.
Bitbucket:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Bitbucket, prices will increase by 10% for all tiers.
Crowd:
- New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Crowd, there will be a price increase of 10-11%.
Portfolio for Jira, Confluence Questions & Confluence Calendars:
- Portfolio for Jira – New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Portfolio for Jira, prices will increase by between 75% and 100% depending on user tier.
- Confluence Calendars – New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Confluence Calendars, prices will increase by between 60% and 108% depending on user tier.
- Confluence Questions – New License: If you’re looking to purchase a new license for Confluence Questions, prices will increase by between 80% and 108% depending on user tier.
