Following our Cyber Essentials Plus certification in February 2022, we’re proud to announce that as of February 2023 Automation Consultants have renewed our Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
What is Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed, industry-supported scheme to help organisations protect themselves online against common security threats, within the context of the government’s 10 Steps to Cyber Security.
The Cyber Essentials Assurance Framework was designed in consultation with SMEs, including the Federation for Small Business, and gives organisations a choice over the level of assurance they wish to gain.
Cyber Essentials Plus is the highest level of certification offered under the Cyber Essentials scheme.
It therefore offers a higher level of assurance through more rigorous external testing of the organisation’s cyber security systems. This includes a team of cyber security experts conducting vulnerability tests both remotely and on-site to check whether the controls defend against attacks, such as hacking and phishing.
Why are Automation Consultants Cyber Essentials Plus certified?
As cyber-hackers become increasingly intelligent and have adapted to many counter-hacking measures, we believe it is important to take a proactive stance against any potential cyber attacks.
The Cyber Essentials Plus certification is a great way to ensure that we have implemented recognised, best-practice security controls to protect our organisation from any potential cyber threats.
This not only protects our organisation but is also an essential precaution to protect the data of the organisations that we work with.
For example, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) states that by achieving a Cyber Essentials certification and implementing even just one out of the five required controls can protect businesses from around 80% of attacks.
Next steps
Cyber Essentials Plus provides a clear statement of the cyber security controls all organisations should implement to mitigate risk from internet-based threats.
However, this is something that should be continuously implemented and built upon to ensure the best ongoing protection from increasingly sophisticated attacks.
To demonstrate our ongoing commitment to security, our next goal will be achieving ISO/IEC 27001 certification.
This is the leading international standard focused on information security, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), in partnership with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
